Walls are tumbling down! Interior "fake walls" are coming out and hung ceiling is being removed! We're beginning to see signs of the old classrooms coming back. Many thanks to the Duke Power retirees for their hard work and sweat. If anyone would like our hung ceiling, please let us know, info@ocfasc.org. |

Catherine Devoe studies at the Washington National Opera
Institute for Young Singers in Washington DC. She was one of 28
teenagers accepted into the institute through competitive
audition. They studied opera history, Italian diction, movement,
and drama as well as master classes and workshops with opera
professionals. |

Talent Explosion 2008! was a success. This year we had two shows, one for the kids and one for teens and adults. |

Artic breezes are not blowing through our building anymore thanks to temporary storm windows. We have an unobstructed view of the mountains, and an uninterrupted breeze when the wind blows. Now we don't have to hold things down inside the building. |

Building Plans - we now have building plans for the renovations of the Conservatory. They will be posted in the hall way for all to see. Come see where we're going! Thank you to the Walhalla Sertoma Club for their continued support. The Sertoma Club kindly donated $1000 to the Conservatory. Thank you to Jean Pitman for the donation of her grand piano. Our students are enjoying learning on such a fine instrument. |

Two Conservatory students, Catherine Devoe and Isabella Krushudian, are attending the Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities summer Academy program. Congratulations to both these talented vocalists. |

Our first Talent Showcase is a success!! Amazing talent from all over the upstate came to the Civic Auditorium to compete for over $400 in prize money. The winner was Michael Strassburg, a drummer from Inman. A great time was had by all and we are expecting an even bigger event next year! |

| Santa brought a bathroom! Sometimes the obvious needs are the greatest gifts. Thanks to the Region I of the South Carolina Heritage Corridor we were able to build a handicap bathroom and add a toilet to our other bathroom. We will start the New Year with two working bathrooms! | ||
